Redpath Mining Contractors and Engineers Install Advanced Containerized MBR System at North Bay Facility for Treatment of Grey Water and Sewage
North Bay, ON – J.S. Redpath Limited, Mining Contractors and Engineers, has installed an advanced containerized MBR System at their North Bay facilities for treatment of grey water and sewage, to support their commitment to sustainability and the environment. These containerized MBR Systems allow for the reuse and recycling of grey water and sewage in remote mining sites. “By installing our own containerized MBR System at our facilities, we gain valuable experience with this technology.” said, Derek Budge, Manager of Safety, Health and Environment. “Redpath’s philosophy is to be a leader in all areas of Health, Safety, and the Environment.”

The containerized MBR System is supplied and supported by Filter Innovations. Filter Innovations is a member of the Calco Environmental Group specializing in innovative treatment solutions for process water, wastewater, ground water, and air. As part of its product line, the company designs, manufactures, and supports a full line of Membrane-Biological-Reactor (MBR) systems for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater.
“MBR technology is the future of wastewater treatment here in Canada, and around the world”, said John Dragasevich, President of Filter Innovations. “Our MBR wastewater treatment systems already exceed these proposed new standards. In fact, these systems deliver ultraclean effluent, virtually drinking-water quality, protecting our environment and our watershed.”
Other benefits of MBR technology include a small footprint, reliability, and low maintenance. MBR systems are robust enough to withstand variations in operation conditions due to fluctuating sludge concentration, sludge age and organic load. As a result, these systems are particularly well-suited to wastewater treatment plants with significant seasonal or daily variations in wastewater loading. Filter Innovations has delivered MBR systems into a variety of wastewater applications, including small decentralized sub-divisions, remote work camps, hotels, resorts, and golf clubs. Systems range in size up to 1 million litres per day.
