Filter Innovations’ President Chairman of Environment Industry Day at Queen’s Park
TORONTO,ON – (May 2011) Filter Innovations’ President and CEO, John Dragasevich, was committee chairman of the 11th annual Environment Industry Day (EID) at Queen’s Park on April 5th. This event, sponsored by the Ontario Environment Industry Association (ONEIA), provides a forum for dialogue between representatives from the environmental industry sector and government policy makers. Participants included top CEOs, in addition to cabinet ministers, senior government staff from a range of ministries, and various MPP’s and opposition critics.
A luncheon address by Gail Beggs, Deputy Minister of the Environment, offered insight into the current and future priorities in her ministry. Afternoon roundtable sessions provided an opportunity for discussion on topics including the modernization of the approvals process in the M.O.E., Brownfields remediation, green purchasing, water, wastewater and energy policies and sustainable building.
The evening reception was hosted by Minister of the Environment, John Wilkinson, and included a surprise appearance by Ontario Premier, Dalton McGuinty. This years’ focus was “Tomorrow’s jobs…. Today!” and posed the question “What can we do today to secure the sustainable economy of tomorrow?”
“Environment Industry Day is an opportunity to work with government to establish policies and programs which make sense in establishing new regulations” said John Dragasevich, President of Filter Innovations Inc and chairman of EID. “The importance of today’s theme becomes even more significant as we (ONEIA companies) can influence the government to implement more stringent guidelines based on the newest and best technology, which we have invested research, time and resources to create. This translates into innovation and jobs from Ontario based companies. From this partnership between government and industry, we are able to better protect the environment and act together to be proactive and provide for us, today, and for our children tomorrow, a greener world.”
